Not necessarily. I have faith that the 757 I am boarding will fly despite the fact that I do not fully understand the principles of aerodynamics and common sense tells me that a metal tube full of people does not belong in the sky.
Faith is a kind of stop gap for things we don’t understand. In my example above my faith in the airworthiness of the aircraft is based upon observation. I have seen planes fly. I do not have to ascribe a supernatural operator to the phenomena. Some people see a universe full of life and things happening which are impossible to understand and so they ascribe a supernatural operator to the phenomena they observe.
Humans are programmed to do this for some reason. I suppose we just want to make sense of our world.
